If You Own A Restaurant, Cafe or Pub In The Swansea Area You Need To Be Aware Of The Findings In This Survey. Ignore It At Your Peril...!

With the impending ease out of lock-down many businesses have been focusing on how best to lay out their restaurant, cafe or pub premises in order to counter the inevitable drop in revenue and maximise the income, if the government enforces either a 1m or 2m social distancing regulation, or a cap on the percentage of usual customers allowed in any venue. The lack of guidance and advice from the local Welsh Government is astounding.

Businesses are rightly worried and they MUST be given sufficient notice to adequately prepare. But preparing the new hygiene processes, layouts and deciding what additional materials and associated expenses is arguably the easiest element of the equation. What is more worrying and something that businesses appear to be failing to address is the 'attitude' and 'future behaviour' of the customers and potential customers, especially those who leave their homes to dine. Little is known of the impact that new attitudes and dining behaviour will have on the establishments. As a consequence of the lack of information offered by the Government and the perceived lack of strategy from them to help drive custom to the venues once they open, Taste Swansea conducted a survey amongst 'actual diners' by way of direct email and also via social media platforms. The survey was totally anonymous and the results will give establishment owners some degree of information and guidance regarding their way forward.
